Exhibitions and Experiential Graphics: Design, Production and Install Management
Terminal B, receiving the highest honors in 2023 as the best new airport terminal globally, was the first area of LaGuardia Airport to open as part of their ambitious complete rebuild. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey working together with the NY State Governor's office wished to infuse a "sense of place" into the 1.3 million square foot terminal and celebrate its opening. Thresholds of each gate and the bulkhead were chosen to be wrapped with NY-themed graphics to create a warm and inviting welcome to visitors; highlighting famous attractions in NYC. For the Governor's opening ceremony event and some time after, several LaGuardia Airport and NY-related activations were developed including multiple built and graphic exhibition areas, a 3D printed scale model of the new airport, large graphic murals, and video animations were developed. Coordination with many high-influence stakeholders within a complex project team strucure and high security issues were sensitively and critically addressed during design and logistical planning and on-site installation; all keeping pace with the around-the-clock construction for completion by the opening date.
